handmade gum ball neck piece

Hi All...

This will be my tutorial on how to make a gum ball bead neck piece...that is not the actual name of the beads..But every time I see them, they remind me of gum ball I ate as a kid..

Love the colours...

Things Required:

1) Beads

2) A Ribbon Rose (or any kind of a flower)
3) Findings (Jump Rings, Ear hooks (for earrings), Lobster clasp (for bracelet))
4) Satin Ribbon (http://www.itsybitsy.in/)
5) T Pins (http://www.itsybitsy.in/)
6) Nose pliers (http://www.itsybitsy.in/)
7) Scissor

First of all lets layout our design onto a board. This will guide us with the design and help us bead in desired manner. By laying out our design we are also ensuring that we avoid mistakes..

Once you are satisfied with design we will go ahead and measure our satin ribbon accordingly..now we start with stringing on the first bead onto the ribbon..

Now we have one bead on the ribbon..we will put a knot on both the ends of the bead..we need to be sure that the knot is close to the ends...In my beads the bead hole was quite large so I had to knot thrice to make sure the bead does not slip through the knot. It also so gave a extra dimension and colour to the bead...

Once we have secured a bead repeat the previous step for all the beads by following the template we created.

After all the beads are on the ribbon we must have something looking like this..

Cut out the extra ribbon on both the sides and you will be left with a beaded strand..

Now we would be adding another satin ribbon to the beads to tie around  your neck.. you can alternate ribbon with a metal wire or chains or other beads...

Make a basic loop at the end of beads on both sides and add a jump ring to the loops.. This is provides you jump rings with a platform where you can add your chain, beads, In this case i have knotted the ribbons onto   it.

Once you are done you have made your own gum ball neck piece.

its very simple and yet beautiful...
